Apr 7th: Singapore Sling
Day 4 (Day 3 in Singapore)
Our last day here before leaving for New Zealand but our flight was not until 7:50pm so we had nearly a whole day for more exploring. Taxi booked from the hotel at 4pm
Back on the MRT we headed back to Marina Bay for our visit to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. This is a bonkers building comprising of 3 twin towers of 57 stories with an ocean liner on the top and a 150 meter infinity pool! Almost 3000 bedrooms. It is quite a sight.
The views from the top were breathtaking. It was blisteringly hot so my baseball cap was an absolute must though I was worried of losing it to a gust of wind!
I’ve no idea how many photos I took. Luckily for you I can’t include them all here! You can only visit the viewing platform at one end but residents have access to the rooftop fine-dining restaurant and, of course, the infinity pool
Back at ground level, we walked over the Helix Bridge (Singapore’s equivalent of London’s Millennium ‘wobbly’ Bridge) and on to the famous Raffles Hotel for another photo opportunity.
Over the years many people have said to me, “If you are ever in Singapore you simply MUST go to Raffles and have a Singapore Sling cocktail”.
“No way!”, was my constant reply, “I’m not falling for that over-priced tourist rubbish!” It was delicious! It may be over-priced but you get a free sack of monkey nuts and you can drop the shells on the floor. Such decadence!
